Naturopathy

Naturopathy is based on the belief that the body has a natural ability to heal itself, given the right conditions. A burn, a spot or a wound will be able to heal on its own if given the right conditions. In the same way, any of the body's emotional or physical symptoms can be healed given the necessary resources.

The trick is to get the body in to a state of balance where these things all become possible, then it will do it. Symptoms are considered to derive from weaknesses (or ‘blocks’) in the body's vital force (qi / prana). The strength of the vital force is improved using natural, non-invasive techniques and remedies. As well as naturopathic nutrition, I use herbs (www.naet-europe.com) and techniques such as NAET (www.naeteurope.com), and ThetaHealing (www.nationalthetahealing.co.uk), depending on what you, as an individual, need.

The aim is to treat the symptoms and their underlying causes, so that the body's environment no longer supports the symptoms and is strong or ‘balanced’ enough to withstand any fresh onslaughts of viruses, bacterial infection, funguses and parasites. One typical example of this would be candidiasis. We all have candida cells in our bodies but it when the stomach acid is weak and the rest of the system therefore more acidic than is optimal, that the cells change and cause problems with fermentation in the gut and consequent fatigue and so on. Restoring a good pH balance by alkalising the diet, eliminating allergies and sensitivities, using ‘belief work’, herbal remedies and so on, means we can change your body’s ‘environment’ to one that cannot sustain candiasis and is now healthy and full of energy, and where you have the techniques to maintain your newfound health thereon in.

What happens at a Naturopathic appointment?

Initially, I ask clients to complete a couple of forms. One is a symptom checklist to make sure all symptoms are considered. The other asks for information required by law and / or questions best answered at home where information can be looked up, such as 'What is the name and address of your GP?' or 'What vaccinations have you had?'

At the first appointment which is 90minutes to 2hours, we discuss your main symptoms and use various diagnostic techniques to find out about their causes. The diagnostic techniques include diagnostic kinesiology (Muscle Response Testing), face, iris, nail, tongue and pulse diagnoses.

Treatment will depend on the findings. In follow-up appointments (which are up to an hour), I may use a combination of therapies, or just one, depending on the requirements of the individual.

All therapies are carried out fully-clothed. The client is either sitting or lying down as appropriate.

What else do I have to do?

Depending on your problems, your schedule and your lifestyle, herbal tinctures, supplements and detoxes may be given to be taken at home. These are supplied through me so that there is no guess-work or leg-work.

Supplements can usually be ordered by the client by phone and paid for directly to the providing company. Using diagnostic kinesiology (Muscle Response Testing), I check for how appropriate the make of supplement is for the individual and the dosage and length of treatment.

Follow-up visits are to check the progress of the treatment and make adjustments where necessary. These tend to be every month or six weeks. The number of visits depends on the progress of the individual and the nature of their condition.

It is usual to attend at least 3 appointments. When NAET is included, it is usually more productive to attend weekly, and concessionary rates are usually available. Five or six appointments typically get clients established to deal with sensitivities, intolerances and allergies.

Who is Naturopathy suitable for?

Naturopathy is a harmonious treatment which can be used at any age in life because each person is treated according to their own needs and requirements.
